Brooklyn Heights was New York’s first neighborhood to be protected as a historic district, and it shows. Federal-style rowhouses, Greek Revival and Italianate brownstones, and tucked-away carriage houses line Hicks, Henry, Willow and Columbia Heights, with the narrow “fruit streets” (Cranberry, Orange and Pineapple) running between them. Many of those homes now hold several apartments, and the laundry room, if there is one, is often a shared basement with two machines and a sign-up sheet. The prewar co-ops and elevator buildings closer to Clinton Street and Cadman Plaza aren’t always better: older buildings tend to restrict in-unit washers.

3. It comes back folded. Your laundry returns to your door, normally the next day. Track each order in the app from pickup to drop-off.
